Ujjain: These days a unique fair of donkeys has been organized in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh. Every year a donkey fair is held in Ujjain from Ekadashi to Kartik Purnima at the Kartik Mela Ground on the banks of the Shipra River. In this fair which lasts for 7 days, donkey owners bring their donkeys and sell them. This year too many donkeys and mules have been auctioned in the fair so far. 

The special thing about this fair is that every donkey and mule that comes here has a name. Donkey owners keep their names on the basis of their height, appearance and behaviour. This year, the pair of Shahrukh-Salman to Alia-Ranbir is seen in the donkey fair. So the donkeys named Raja-Rani are also a special attraction of the fair. Buyers inspect the donkeys and negotiate on the basis of their appearance and stature, and buy the donkeys they want and take them with them.

Every year, in large numbers, the cattle rearers of the state reach here with their donkeys for sale. This time the cattle owners told that after 2 years, once again a donkey fair has been held because 2 years were suffering from Corona, but this time business is being done in the fair with great enthusiasm. Donkeys are brought from all over the state to sell at this fair. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, people who buy and sell from Rajasthan also come to Ujjain.
