Satara, Maharashtra, Police arrested the Dr Santosh Pol - a practicing doctor from Wai town in Satara district in western Maharashtra on Saturday for abducting and killing an aanganwadi worker - has confessed to the police that he had murdered six persons by administering some lethal medicines.

He buried them at his farmhouse, said the police, who have dug up four bodies.

Pol’s alleged crimes came to light after police began to investigate the suspicious disappearance of 49-year-old Mangal Jedhe, President of the Maharashtra Purva Prathmik Shikshika Sevika Sangh (MPPSSS).

Investigations have revealed that Pol and his men allegedly abducted Jedhe while she was on her way to Pune on June 16 for her daughter’s child delivered.

Some of the people whose bodies have been found by the police had been missing since 2003.

It is not clear yet why Dr Pol allegedly killed the six people, though the police are investigating whether he was involved in an organ transplant racket.
