Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson's first year with the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals was Rahul Dravid's last year with the franchise as captain. Samson said that when Dravid asked him about coming into the team, it was like dream coming true.

Samson spoke on Instagram with New Zealand leg-spinner and spin consultant Ish Sodhi of the Royals team, saying, "Rahul Bhai and Zubeen Bharucha (Royals head of cricket) were taking trials for Rajasthan Royals.
