The current Brazilian Serie-A League champion Flamingo has paid tribute to his former foothold player Alex Barbosa Pereira Lecco, who has died due to the Kovid-19 infection. According to the report of the news agency, Perera, popularly known as LECO, was admitted to the hospital only two weeks ago.

"His first two Kovid-19 reports were negative, but the third report was positive," Marcelo Rodriguez, a close friend of Lecco, told Globo News. Lecco was considered to be a great Brazilian footballer in the 1990s.

The Flamingo Club said in a statement, "With great sadness we have to say that our former foothold player Alex Pereira is no longer with us. We have solidarity with his family and friends. We express our condolences."
