Simbu, a Kollywood actor, has been awarded a "Doctorate" from Vels University for "distinguished achievement in the field of film." On social media, a few photographs of the actor dressing up for the doctoral ceremony have surfaced. On social media, STR's fans are showering him with congratulatory words.

Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendar, generally known as S.T.R. or Simbu, has worked in the cinema business for three decades. Simbu has amassed a large fan base and established himself in the industry, having played a child artist in films produced by his father T. Rajendar and appearing in films such as Eeswaran, Maanaadu, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Kovil, Vaalu, and others Earlier, doctorate was conferred upon ace actors like MG Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Vikram among others.

Vels University's founder, chairman, and Chancellor, Dr. Ishari K Ganesh, said, "The members of the committee unanimously agreed that actor Silambarasan TR would be a deserving recipient of this honorary doctorate this year. I'd want to make it clear that it has nothing to do with the actor's involvement in films produced by Vels Film International."
