Mumbai: A man in Mumbai was arrested by the local police after he, in a drunken state, made a false tip-off to the Control Room, claiming that terrorists had entered the city on the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. According to police officials, the caller alleged that two to three terrorists had landed at Mankhurd's Ekta Nagar downmarket area, ostensibly planning something. Responding swiftly, Mumbai Police utilized technological intelligence to track down the caller.

The identified caller, Laxman Naravane, was interrogated by the police as part of their standard precautionary measures when dealing with such tip-offs. A subsequent investigation revealed that Naravane was allegedly heavily intoxicated when he made the call. Furthermore, the information provided to the control room during the call was found to be false. As a result, Naravane was arrested and booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The Mumbai Police have initiated a further probe into the matter to gather more details.

This incident follows a similar case in August, where Mumbai Police received a call threatening 'serial bomb blasts' in local trains. In that instance, the police promptly apprehended a 25-year-old man, suspected of making the call while in an inebriated state. Another call to the Police control room claimed a bomb was planted inside a local train in Mumbai, with a warning of imminent 'serial bomb blasts.'

Taking immediate action, the police traced the location of the caller's phone and, with the help of other technical evidence, apprehended the man from Juhu, the suspected location where the call was believed to have originated.
