Earthquake jolts northeast India, magnitude 4.1 on Richter scale

Guwahati: Earthquakes have hit several parts of the Northeast today following the tremors felt in the national capital Delhi a few days ago. Strong tremors struck Sonitpur in Assam, Chandel in Manipur and West Khasi Hills in Meghalaya in the morning. According to information received from the National Centre for Sysmology, the magnitude of the earthquake in these areas in the Northeast has been recorded at 4.1, 3.0 and 2.6 on the Richter scale.

However, no loss of life or property has been reported so far due to the earthquake.  According to reports, strong tremors were felt in north-eastern India on Friday morning. People were sleeping when the earthquake struck. There is an atmosphere of fear among the people due to the earthquake in the morning. The doors and windows of the houses began to shake due to the strong earthquake. People came out of their homes in the wee years. However, no loss of life or property has been reported due to the earthquake so far.

Earlier, the country's capital Delhi also experienced mild tremors a few days ago. At 9:54 p.m. people felt the tremors. The epicentre of the earthquake was reported to Rohini Ilaque in North West Delhi. Its intensity was recorded at 2.4 on the Richter scale.
