Earthquake: Ladakh hit by earthquake measuring 4.2 on Richter Scale

Ladakh was once again hit by an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale on Monday, Septemer 13. Reportedly, no loss of life and property was reported in the region. Different parts of India and neighbouring nations have felt earthquake tremors as well, informed the National Centre for Seismology

According to National Center for Seismology, the tremors were felt in 89 kilometers of South West of Alchi at 9:16 am on Monday. "Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.2, Occurred on 13-09-2021, 09:16:46 IST, Lat: 33.65 and Long: 76.50, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 89km SW of Alchi (Leh), Jammu and Kashmir, India," tweeted vy National Center for Seismology

Ladakh also continues to remain in news coverage for the building up of a 4.5 km long tunnel under the Shinkun La pass. The project has been approved by the Ministry of Defence through which the third road linking Ladakh to other parts of India, presently under construction, passes. The Nimmu-Padum-Darcha road or the third axis to Ladakh begins at Nimo, which is located 35 km before Leh on the Leh-Srinagar highway. The road is 297-km long.
