Startupnrev, a collaboration of companies, will seek to set a new world record for the longest electric motorbike ride to promote road safety and encourage the usage of environmentally friendly means of transportation. On Thursday, Transport Minister B Sriramalu approved the plan put up by four Karnataka startups and two Brigade REAP bikers.

On February 4, the two riders, John Kuruvilla and Gautam Khot, will embark on a 14,000-kilometer round trip across the nation, which will be launched off in Bengaluru.

Electric BharatMala is the name of the route. "The route would stop at 54 different locations, including Mangaluru, Ernakulam, Kanyakumari, Chennai, Ongole, Puri, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Kolkata, Darjeeling, Guwahati, Gorakhpur, Nainital, Dehradun, Shimla, Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Bikaner, Udaypur, Jamnagar, Porbander, Bhavnagar, Surat.
