New Delhi: The Election Commission and the Health Ministry are scheduled to meet on Monday morning to discuss elections in five states. The meeting will take place around 11 a.m. It is believed that the meeting may brainstorm on the growing infection of new Omicron variants of the Corona virus. According to a senior ELECTION Commission official, the meeting will discuss in detail the growing global transition of Omicron variants and its impact in India in the coming days.

The Secretary, Union Health Ministry will brief the Election Commission on what instructions have been given by the Centre to the State Governments so far. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and both election commissioners are scheduled to hold discussions with the Union Health Secretary at the meeting. It is believed that these aspects will also be discussed as to what steps can be taken if Omicron spreads rapidly. The meeting is considered crucial in view of next year's assembly elections in five states. Because the Commission can tighten corona guidelines after this meeting.

Several officials including Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan will be present at the meeting with the Election Commission. The Commission will also hold discussions with the Secretary on the appeal made by the Allahabad High Court. The Allahabad High Court has appealed for suspension of assembly elections in view of the new variant Omicron of Corona.
