NEW DELHI: The meeting called by the Election Commission of India to discuss and demonstrate the Remote Voting Machine is underway in New Delhi.

Participants in the meeting include members of the technical expert committee as well as the presidents, chairs, and general secretaries of all national and state parties.

The election body has suggested adding "remote voting" for domestic migrants, which would use a multi-constituency electronic voting system that would keep all of the current EVMs' security measures. Up to 72 different constituencies can be handled by this modified EVM from a single remote polling location.

If the initiative is put into action, the migrants' socioeconomic situation may change.

Digvijay Singh remarked during a news conference: "We are really appreciative of all the political parties' responses to our calls for meetings to consider the ECI's suggestion regarding remote voting machines. JDU, Shiv Sena, National Conference, CPI-M, JMM, RJD, PDP, VCK, RUML, and Kapil Sibal were among the political groups represented. NCP and SP have conveyed their views to me."
The Election Commission (EC) has also asked

ecognised political parties to provide written comments by January 31 on a number of connected concerns, including any necessary legislative amendments, administrative process adjustments, and voting processes, if any, for domestic migrants.
