NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) vehemently criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday following the enforcement directorate's surprise raid on the Delhi residence of AAP leader Sanjay Singh.
AAP alleged that Sanjay Singh, their Rajya Sabha MP, was singled out by the ED due to his persistent questioning of matters concerning the Adani Group within the Parliament.
Reena Gupta, the spokesperson for AAP, asserted, "The ongoing raids at Sanjay Singh's residence are a direct consequence of his unwavering scrutiny of Adani-related issues. Central agencies had previously conducted fruitless searches, and today's efforts will likely yield the same results. Just yesterday, they raided the homes of some journalists, and now they've targeted Sanjay Singh."
Malvinder Singh Kang, another prominent AAP figure, added, "The BJP government appears to be relentlessly pursuing the AAP out of a sense of vengeance. However, to date, not a single cent has been discovered at the AAP leader's residence to warrant any questions. Many of our leaders have endured harassment and arrests. This is unequivocally a political vendetta."
Labelling the ED's raid as a 'fabricated scam,' Saurabh Bharadwaj, another AAP leader, commented, "The investigation has been ongoing for the past 15 months. Both the ED and CBI have conducted searches at over 1000 locations, yet they haven't recovered even a single rupee. They won't find anything at Sanjay Singh's residence either. The reality is that the BJP is losing in the elections."
Ghanshyam Tiwari, a leader from the Samajwadi Party, also criticized the central government, stating, "This is a new model of dictatorship by the BJP, PM Modi, Amit Shah, and Adani. Within the Parliament, MP microphones are silenced, and MPs are suspended."
