Editor of Kannada daily booked over article against HD Kumaraswamy’s son

A case has been filed against the editor of Kannada daily, Vishwavani for allegedly publishing an article carrying derogatory remarks against Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Gowda.

As per the article,  Nikhil who lost from Mandya in the Lok Sabha election allegedly got drunk and abused his grandfather and JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda.

Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh defeated Nikhil by the margin of 1.21 lakh votes in the recently-held general election.

The Kannada newspaper claimed that Nikhil went to Gowda’s residence in Padmanabhanagar in an inebriated state and blamed him for failing his carrier in politics. The editor of the daily, Visheshwar Bhat and some of his staffs have been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Earlier, CM had rubbished the report, which was source-based and said that the article published on his son was  fabricated and unrealistic.
