The Education Ministry has introduced a fresh curriculum framework, accompanied by the announcement that board examinations will now take place bi-annually. Under this new system, students will have the opportunity to retain their highest score from these exams.

The Ministry highlighted that the motivation behind offering board exams twice a year is to provide students with ample time and chances to excel academically. This change allows students to select the subjects they feel prepared for and have completed. Moreover, they can hold onto the result that reflects their best performance.

In accordance with the updated framework, students in classes 11 and 12 will no longer be confined to specific streams when choosing subjects. Instead, they will have the freedom to choose subjects based on their preferences. This revised structure for school education is aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP).

In conjunction with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP), the Union Education Ministry has officially launched the novel curriculum framework for school education. The Ministry emphasized that students in classes 11 and 12 are required to study two languages, with at least one of them being an Indian language. Additionally, the Ministry announced plans to develop textbooks for the academic session starting in 2024.

About National Education Policy 2020: The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) represents a transformative blueprint for revolutionizing the educational landscape in India. Envisioned to cater to the evolving needs of students and the nation's development, the NEP strives to bring about holistic changes in the way education is conceptualized and delivered. With its emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach, flexible curriculum, and skill-based learning, the policy aims to foster critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students. Moreover, the NEP recognizes the importance of early childhood education, technology integration, and teacher empowerment. By promoting inclusivity, equity, and a seamless integration of education across all levels, the NEP endeavors to shape individuals who are not only academically proficient but also well-rounded and socially conscious, thus paving the way for a brighter and more dynamic future for India.
