Educational crisis: Since Taliban takeover 229 professors left Afghanistan

KABUL: A total of 229 professors from Afghanistan's top three institutions have fled the country since the Taliban took control in August last year, according to a media report released on Thursday.

According to sources, the teachers were from Kabul University, Herat University, and Balkh University. The majority of the professors who departed had master's or doctoral degrees. According to the BBC, the majority of the teachers (112) were from Kabul University.

The majority of the teachers were from Kabul University's faculty of literature, with 27 of them. Among them, the department of French had seven professors, all of whom have since left, and the department now has no instructors to teach.

The 229 professors do not include those on vacation abroad or those who have left Afghanistan in the last six months for treatment or studies.
