New Delhi: Eid ul Adha is one of the most auspicious festivals celebrated by Muslim community across the world. Today it is celebrating in India. The festival is more famously referred to as Bakra Eid in India and parts of sub-continent. It is marked by the custom of sacrifice to offer the thing which is dear to heart.

President Ramnath Kovind took twitter to greet the nation on this festival as saying, “Eid Mubarak to all fellow citizens, especially to our Muslim brothers & sisters in India and abroad. On this special day of Eid-ul-Zuha, we celebrate the sacred spirit of sacrifice. Let us resolve to work together for unity and fraternity in our shared society.”

On the other hand PM Modi expressed his best wishes on Id-ul-Zuha.

“May this day deepen the spirit of compassion and brotherhood in our society”, He tweeted.

On this occasion, a holiday has been declared in many schools and government offices of Delhi NCR and many states of India. Bakra Eid holiday  is being observed in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, etc.

Eid-al-adha or the ‘Feast of Sacrifice’ is observed by the Muslims to honor the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of compliance towards God.  Worth mention here It is the second of the two most auspicious Islamic holidays, the other being Eid-al-Fitr. On this day, Muslims dress in their finest clothes, visit the mosque to offer prayers and meet their friends and family. The 3 portions of the sacrificed animals are done.
