Ekkaa Electronics, a prominent electronics company in India, is poised to contribute significantly to the country's manufacturing sector. In the face of global economic challenges, Mr. Sagar Gupta, Director of Ekkaa Electronics, emphasizes the need for a global manufacturing unit to cater to companies worldwide. Over the past five to seven years, there has been a noticeable shift in focus towards manufacturing in India, especially electronics manufacturing. Ekkaa aims to expand its manufacturing capabilities and establish a mega factory to serve both India and the global market.

The company plans to become India's first major manufacturer of backlights for LED TV panels, a product currently imported. Ekkaa's existing plant already engages in manufacturing activities such as injection moulding and SMT processes. The new facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, represents a significant leap from assembly to core manufacturing of consumer electronics, including LED TVs, Washing Machines, Smartwatches, Hearables, and TWS.

To realize this vision, Ekkaa has announced a substantial investment of Rs. 1,000 crores in the new manufacturing unit which is expected to be operational by early 2024. The new facility, spread across 16,000 sq. mtrs with the production area alone measuring 250,000 sq. ft., will focus on both domestic and export markets, Ekkaa plans to launch an export arm to meet the growing demand. As India aims to achieve USD 300 billion worth of electronics manufacturing and USD 120 billion in exports by FY '26, Ekkaa positions itself to play a pivotal role in this growth.

In the words of Mr. Sagar Gupta, Director, Ekkaa Electronics, “At the new plant we have done a complete backward integration with in-house design and manufacturing solutions. In our current manufacturing facility at Sonipat, we make motherboards and plastic injection moulding for the LED TVs. However, going forward in the new plant, replete with machines like metal presses, backlight manufacturing facility for LED TVs, we have done a complete in-house integration comprising of design and manufacturing capabilities and marching towards core manufacturing of consumer electronics products”.

The new Noida facility is set to be the largest in terms of capacity, initially manufacturing 500,000 LED TVs per month, with plans to increase it to 700,000 to 800,000 units per month in the next three years and eventually to 1 million units per month. The investment will cover land acquisition, construction, working capital, manufacturing, and research and development. The facility, initially staffed by 1500 employees, plans to increase its workforce to 3000 over the next three years.

Ekkaa Electronics currently caters to 150 pan-India and regional brands and exports to neighbouring countries. The new facility and expanded product lines will enable exports to Africa, the Gulf nations, and eventually Europe and the USA. The company's expertise, built through manufacturing LED TVs, now extends to various display products like commercial, interactive, outdoor, education displays, touch panels, and the like. Ekkaa is committed to in-house integration, incorporating design and manufacturing capabilities, moving towards core manufacturing of a diverse range of consumer electronics products.
