New Delhi: Bihar CM and JDU Chief Nitish Kumar has been dealt another setback by the Election Commission. The Election Commission has also banned the use of the JD(U) symbol 'Arrow' in Maharashtra. Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Maharashtra and Jharkhand in the next few months. The party is planning to land here on its own. The Election Commission's decision is nothing short of a setback for him. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha had complained to the Election Commission on June 24, 2019, in the case.

The JMM had urged the Commission not to allow JD(U) candidates to contest any election in Jharkhand with an 'Arrow' symbol. Because it will create confusion in the minds of the voters. This is because the election symbols of JMM and JD(U) are slightly similar. The JD(U) election symbol is an arrow mark, while the JMM has a bow.

The JMM had asked the Election Commission to freeze the JD(U) symbol. The JMM has welcomed the Election Commission's decision. Nitish's party has decided to contest the elections in Jharkhand alone. After holding discussions with Nitish Kumar, the party's Jharkhand state president Salkhan Murmu had announced to contest the election alone. JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan says, "The party has decided that we will go to the Election Commission against this order." If need be, we will go to the High Court also. The JD(U) is trying to expand the party outside Bihar.
