Anantnag: In South Kashmir's Anantnag, National Conference leader and former CM Omar Abdullah said that this time in the upcoming assembly elections, his party will fight for its lost identity and not for roads, electricity, and water. His party is always ready for elections at any time. If his party comes to power, it will end the Public Safety Act (PSA). He toured the Anantnag district and addressed party workers at Kokernag.

Omar Abdullah said that no one knows when the elections will be held in the state, but whenever it will be held, we are ready. He said that what was snatched on August 5, 2019, is illegal. The abrogation of Article 370 will be an issue in the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the first since the Centre's August 2019 move. The case is now in the Supreme Court and we have full faith in the court.

He said, my heart says that 370 will come back. He said that if the BJP felt that the government would be theirs, they would have asked the Election Commission to hold elections, but they do not have the courage. They know that people will not vote for them in the elections. Omar Abdullah said that they (Centre) have retained only those (old) laws here which can be used to harass people. There is no (public) safety act anywhere in the country... It is only in Jammu and Kashmir. Omar Abdullah said that the face-off between the armies of India and China in Arunachal Pradesh was also unfortunate and said that both countries should work together to improve their relations. It is unfortunate that we could not maintain good relations with our neighbors. Our relations with Pakistan are in front of everyone. Now there is news of scuffling in Arunachal Pradesh. Recalling the country's former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Omar said that his words were... friends can change but neighbors cannot. We should try to build better relations with them.
