New Delhi:- Billionaire Elon Musk's xAI launched its website Wednesday, announcing the formation of an artificial intelligence (AI) startup, showcasing a team of engineers who have worked at companies from Google to Microsoft to OpenAI.

The startup is led by Tesla CEO and Twitter owner Musk, who has repeatedly said AI development should be stopped and that the sector needs regulation.

"To make sense of reality, we are announcing the formation of @xAI," Musk said in a tweet Wednesday. The website states that xAI will host his Twitter Spaces event on July 14th.

Musk registered a Nevada-based company called X.AI Corp in March, according to state filings. The company lists Musk as its sole director and Jared Virtual, managing director of Musk's family office, as a secretary.

The website also has an application form for interested candidates who want to join the startup. The current team at xAI claims to have worked for several organizations, including "DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto."

Back in April, Musk said he wanted to build a "truth-seeking AI" that circumvents political correctness to compete with Microsoft's OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard. But he also expressed concern about the negative effects of AI, saying that AI "could destroy civilization." 

Musk, meanwhile, merged Twitter with a newly formed “X” dummy company and kept the platform’s brand name.

Elon Musk has come up with a new AI Platform named as the brand name only. Musk registered the new firm in March in Nevada.
