Amritsar: Employees of the Punjab government's technical education and industrial training, irrigation and industry departments on Monday observed a pen-down strike in protest for not paying salaries for the month of November.

It has been learned from the report that after a week, the employees are now on the path of agitation. Sukhchain Singh Khaira, the head of the Joint Action Committee of the employees at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, said that the strike will be continued on Tuesday. He also warned that if the government did not release the salary of the employees, then this strike will be carried forward with the government employees across the state.

The benefits of ministers should be discontinued till the salary of the employees:

Sources say that the Shiromani Akali Dal has demanded that all the benefits of the ministers and the chairman be discontinued until the salary of the workers is received. Former Finance Minister Parminder Dhindsa said that the state government does not have the money to pay salaries to the employees. There are crores of appointments and consultants for CM's travels abroad. The government, which is collecting the highest tax in the country, does not have the money to pay November salary to 70000 employees of six departments, irrigation, industry, technical education, rural development, farming and planning. However, the salaries of the ministers and their advisors have been released. At the same time, the government achieved only 34 percent of its tax target during the first six months of this year. There was also a 14 percent decrease in this. He said that the employees are being discriminated against by not releasing seven installments of dearness allowance.
