New Delhi:  ED, or the Enforcement Directorate, in Jharkhand has made another arrest in connection to a land scam case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Mohammad Saddam is alleged to have forged land records related to property purportedly acquired by former Chief Minister Hemant Soren. This marks the third arrest in the ongoing investigation, with Hemant Soren and Bhanu Pratap already in custody. Notably, Saddam was previously arrested by the ED in another land scam case.

Regarding the Badgai area land scam involving Hemant Soren, the ED seeks to interrogate Mohammad Saddam, who was previously incarcerated in connection to an army land scam. The agency has obtained permission for a four-day interrogation, ending on April 12, following a court hearing. Saddam, arrested by the ED on April 13, 2023, in the army land scam, has remained in detention since. He was also taken into remand by the ED on Tuesday for the Badgai Anchal land scam case.

Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED in connection to the alleged scam involving 8.50 acres of land in the Badgai area, while revenue employee Bhanu Pratap was also detained. Both Soren and Pratap are currently in custody. Mohammad Saddam's arrest on Tuesday adds to the investigation, with allegations of him falsifying documents related to former CM Hemant Soren's property. It's worth mentioning that Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED on January 31 in connection to the alleged land scam.
