Construction of Rambara-Kedarnath ropeway approved to make the journey of Lord Kedarnath accessible and easy has not started even after one and half decade. Whereas since the Kedarnath disaster, a three-time survey has also been done. Tere has been a demand to ease access to Kedarnath after the disaster of 16/17 June 2013, but the state governments have not improved the road way except to promote air service. Assurances have been given to make the journey accessible and easy. In the year 2005, Rambara-Kedarnath 3.5 km long ropeway was approved by the Uttarakhand government.

A feasibility test of the entire area was also carried out by Uttaranchal Infrastructure Development Company (UDEC) after surveying the construction of the ropeway. The government talked about working in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and in the year 2009 tenders were invited, but the matter could not proceed. Even after the disaster of June 2013, there have been three announcements regarding the construction of the Kedarnath ropeway. Even the proposal of ropeway was sought from the local administration when the Union Tourism Secretary reached the dham in 2017.

In 2018, the government again conducted a survey for ropeway from UDEC and private company, but so far the survey report has not been released, due to which the pilgrims coming during the journey are suffering. Teerth Purohit Vinod Shukla, Dinesh Bagwadi, AP Vajpayee have demanded the construction of ropeway with extension of the footpath. A survey was conducted from UDEC last year by the government for construction of Rambara-Kedarnath ropeway, the report of which has not been released yet. Work will be done on the basis of whatever guidelines the government and administration meet in this regard.
