Mumbai: The manipulation and fraud of television rating points is being investigated these days by the Mumbai Crime Branch. In the meantime, Mumbai Crime Branch has claimed that the arrested accused and former Chief Executive Officer of Broadcast Audience Research Council, Partho Dasgupta, were in direct contact with Republic TV editor Arnav Goswami and in different locations of Mumbai between 2017 and 2018 but at least six times have done transactions worth lakhs of rupees.
The Mumbai Police had submitted a remand report in the court on Monday in the alleged TRP scam case. Police remand of accused Dasgupta arrested during this period has been extended till 31 December. He was arrested on December 24 from Pune in an alleged TRP manipulation case. Dasgupta was absconding from the spot before his arrest but later the police traced him to Goa and when the team reached Goa, Dasgupta had fled from there to Nashik.
Assistant Inspector Sachin Waze, who was part of the investigation team, told a website recently, "We came to know that when CEO Dasgupta was trying to abscond, he was left in a Mercedes AMG car owned by BARC. However, the car was not found at any toll point." He further said, "Mumbai Crime Branch then sent another team to Pune where a female constable saw a similar person sitting in Creta and from there he was arrested and brought to Mumbai."
