CHITRADURGA: S.K. Basavarajan, the former mutt administrator accused of conspiring against rape-accused seer, was ordered to judicial custody on Monday and will remain there until November 28 by a local court in Chitradurga, Karnataka.
As the two were brought before the court following the conclusion of their police custody, First Additional District and Sessions Judge B.K. Komala also ordered judicial custody for the release of another accused, Basavarajendra.
Since the accused seer, Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, is also housed in a district jail, Basavarajan's attorney asked the court to send his client to a different prison. The judge, however, turned down the plea.
The alleged rape seer and the formerly friendly adversaries are currently being held in the same jail. In connection with the matter of tutoring young victims, teacher Basavarajendra and former administrator Basavarajan were taken into custody.
This was discovered after an audio clip of a conversation between Basavarajendra and a young girl leaked, in which the latter was allegedly being coerced into filing a complaint against the charged seer.
The audio tape also featured another person educating the little girl in opposition to the supposed seer.
The in-charge seer of Chitradurga mutt then filed a complaint against Basavarajendra and the members of NGO Odanadi.
