New Delhi: The knockout round of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 has begun. The Round of 16 matches, which begin tomorrow, will feature the remaining teams after 16 teams were eliminated from the group stage.
The ninth Women's World Cup is currently taking place in Australia and New Zealand. The Football Ferns' journey came to an end, but the Matildas advanced to the knockout round.
Other surprises in the group stage included Canada's failure to advance from Group B. They come in at number seven overall.

On the final day of the group stage, the biggest upset occurred. Germany, the second-seed and defending champions, was unable to advance past the round of 16. Brazil lost heart during the group stage as well.
Morocco Women's first-ever World Cup appearance turned into history when they advanced to the knockout round. The other teams that made it to the last 16 for the first time were South Africa and Jamaica.
Winners of Group C When it came to the first phase of completion, Japan had the best record. They scored 11 goals and had a perfect record. In the group stage, Japan also had three shutouts.
The two players who have scored the most goals in the competition are Germany's Alexandra Popp and Hinata Miyawaza. The Japanese midfielder, 24, will try to increase her total of goals.

In the competition, Lauren James (England) and Mina Tanaka (Japan) have each contributed three assists.
The most important Round of 16 game will be Sweden vs. the United States. The USWNT, who are the current champions, will try to win their third straight championship.
Sweden placed second in 2003 and has never won the competition. The USA came in second place overall and hasn't been at their best.
