Lucknow: As the political squabble between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh deepens, former Director-General of Police (DGP) and now BJP Rajya Sabha member Brijlal has slammed Akhilesh Yadav's assertions about the state of law and order during his tenure.

"The infamous Lucknow guest house incident of 1995, which drew media attention for years and sent shockwaves across the political establishment across party lines, is a living testimony of the SP's past misrule," the BJP MP added. He recalls a group of approximately a dozen people harassing the mother and daughter by dragging them off the road in Bulandshahr. While the world was humiliating the Samajwadi government over the matter, its senior minister Mohd Azam Khan was shamefully defending the indefensible.

The name of a close associate of a Samajwadi Party MP came up in a similar occurrence in Badaun, according to the former DGP, and the SP administration did not say anything at the time.

He went on to say that Gayatri Prajapati, a senior SP minister whose name had become synonymous with illegal mining and graft, had lately been convicted of rape and was serving her sentence.
