PANAJI:  Despite its wealth, India has never attacked another country, said Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, who also stated that expansionist zeal was causing stress around the world.

"India, which was previously known as 'Vishwaguru,' never attacked any country with all of its resources because we do not believe in colonialism or expansionism. We believe in sarve jana sukhino bhavantu... vasudaiva kuttumbakam (sarve jana sukhino bhavantu). The philosophy's key values are sharing and caring. This is something that everyone should remember, and it is something that should be practised "Naidu made the remarks at a ceremony marking the opening of a new durbar hall on the grounds of the Raj Bhavan in Goa.

His remarks came amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. "We are seeing what is occurring around the world, these expansionist ideologies and the conflicts that are created as a result, as well as the misery that the people of that region are experiencing," Naidu said.

"We should all make a genuine commitment to world peace. Because growth is impossible without peace. You can't pay attention if you're tense " the Vice President added.
