New Delhi: The Congress party on Friday wrote a letter to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of social media platform Facebook, demanding an internal investigation into fake news and inflammatory content being circulated on social media during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tenure.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) social media head Rohan Gupta has written to Facebook demanding an internal inquiry into the functioning of Facebook India. Talking to the media, Gupta said, "The atmosphere of spreading fake news and hatred on the Facebook India platform is becoming extremely deadly. Facebook is now becoming irresponsible.'' Gupta further said, 'Today about 370 million people are using Facebook in India and it is a matter of 'serving hate' in front of them.'

Gupta said does Facebook have no responsibility towards anyone? And if so, how is Facebook discharging this responsibility? Gupta said that according to a report when Facebook employees try to bring to the notice of the authorities the hate and fake news content being spread through Facebook in India, Facebook officials say it is not such a big issue, It's not a concern.
