Hyderabad: One person was arrested for carrying fake currency notes worth Rs 3.16 lakhs,  police said on Tuesday.

The person has been identified as Kasthuri Ramesh Babu, and the arrest was made at Hyderabad's Indranagar colony, Kalimandir, and Bandlaguda Jagir. He allegedly travelled with counterfeit money notes. According to the authorities, when they questioned him, he admitted his culpability.

From the suspects, the police seized counterfeit money totaling more than three lakhs. There were 2500 fakw notes in the denomination of one rupee, 45 half-printed fake notes in the same currency, and 92 fake notes in the amount of five rupees. In addition, one Lenovo laptop, two printers--one each in black and white and color--one screen printer, one paper cutter, one phone, and one four-wheeler,were all taken by the police.

On September 19, a complaint about this incident was made to the police. A man by the name of Gopi Rama Swamy had alleged that someone had bought fruits from him and given him a fake Rs 200 note in exchange. He and his friend pursued him and took him to the police as soon as they realised this. Police said, an inquiry was launched after a case was filed at the Gopalapuram Police Station under section 489 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In a different case, the Chilkalguda Police detained a guy by the name of Kaki Yadagiri on Tuesday as a result of obtaining some reliable information. The ambulance vehicle was recovered from him.

The case was based on a complaint that was filed on Monday and was received by Lingampally Srinivas, a resident of Karimnagar Town. He claimed to have moveed from Karimnagar Government to Hyderabad Gandhi Hospital with a patient who had ingested pesticide. He had left his keys in the car after leaving it parked outside. After waiting for ten minutes, he returned but was unable to locate his car. The complainant said that the car was worth Rs. 3,70,000.

The arrest, according to the police, was carried out with the help of the crime staff at Chilkalguda Police Station and was overseen by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for the North Zone, G Venkateshwarlu, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gopalapuram N Sudhir, Station House Officer (SHO) G Naresh, Deputy Inspector K Nageswara Rao, and Sub-inspector Sri N Sai Krishna.
