New Delhi: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has issued summons to the High Commissioner, objecting to the statements made by Canada in the case of farmer movement. Objected to the statements issued by some cabinet ministers including PM Modi. Slamming Canada, the ministry said, 'Interference in our internal affairs is not acceptable. If such activities continue in the future, the relationship between the two countries will be damaged.'
The Foreign Ministry further said that such statements have encouraged radical groups and they have reached our High Commission and Consulate in Canada, which is a challenge for security. It is noteworthy that when the Canadian PM Justin Trudeau expressed concern about the farmers' movement, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson also gave him a strong suggestion that he should not try to interfere in India's internal affairs.
Trudeau said during an online ceremony on the 551st Prakash Parva of Gurunanak Dev that he has always been supportive of peaceful protests and described the situation as worrying about the farmers' agitation in India. He said, 'There is news coming from India about the farmers' movement. The situation is worrying and the reality is that you are also concerned about your friends and families. I want to remind that Canada has always supported the right to protest peacefully. '
