Thousands of farmers have been protesting at the Delhi borders demanding the repeal of the three farm laws. The Centre government has refused to repeal the three contentious farm laws. As the government rejected the farmer's demand,  Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has said the farmers? movement cannot be suppressed.

Meghalaya governor Satya Pal Malik said that the movement would have ?far-reaching implications if mishandled?. Malik told reporters in Shillong that the deadlock ?should be resolved through talks as soon as possible as no movement has been finished by suppression?. He further said that the movement has ?reached the nook and corner of the country and is no longer a local movement?. The governor urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ?show some magnanimity? to resolve the crisis.

He also said that he has conveyed this message personally to the Union Home Minister and urged him to relay the message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, The Home Minister is very receptive and through his intervention, Rakesh Tikait?s arrest was avoided and forces were withdrawn."
