Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai have reportedly approached the Supreme Court against the multiple FIRs filed against them for allegedly misleading the public regarding the death of a protestor at ITO during the farmer?s tractor rally on January 26.

On January 30, Delhi Police had filed a case against Tharoor, Sardesai, The Caravan and others. Earlier, Tharoor and six journalists were booked by the Noida Police for sedition, among other charges, over the violence during the farmers' tractor rally in Delhi. Madhya Pradesh police has also filed a case against Tharoor and the six journalists over their alleged ''misleading'' tweets on the violence during the farmers' tractor rally in Delhi.

One FIR was filed in Noida and four FIRs in Madhya Pradesh?s Bhopal, Hosangabad, Multai and Betul. As per reports, unlike the other FIRs, the Delhi police have not invoked the sedition charge.

The FIR based on the complaint by Chiranjiv Kumar stated that Tharoor and the others misled people on the death of a protester when thousands of farmers entered areas in New Delhi, including the Red Fort, that was not in the agreed route of the tractor rally.

The Delhi police FIR mentioned that the accused, through their ?fake, misleading and wrong? tweets, ?tried to imply that the death of the farmer was caused by the violence committed by Delhi Police under directions of the Central government.?
