New Delhi: Congress National Secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Rampur of Uttar Pradesh (UP) on Thursday to meet the family members of farmer Navreet Singh, who was killed in violence during a tractor rally on the occasion of Republic Day in Delhi. During the tractor parade on 26 January last month, Navreet's tractor collided with a police barricade and he died in that accident.
After this incident, the Delhi Police also released video footage in which it was seen that a tractor coming at a high speed in an attempt to break the police barricade near ITO overturned and fell on some people. The post-mortem report has revealed that he died due to the accident. The incident took place on 26 January when hundreds of farmers riding on tractors created a ruckus in the ITO area of New Delhi after breaking the police barricades.
Police also released tear-gas shells to control the agitated farmers. The police were trying to stop them from moving towards India Gate and Rajpath in central Delhi. The clashes between the police and the protesting farmers were also witnessed during this period, as a group of farmers tried to break the security system maintained by the Delhi Police.
