Today, farmers, who have been protesting for weeks, are gearing up for a significant gathering in Delhi. The Delhi Police has granted permission to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha for their 'Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat', with the condition that the gathering does not exceed 5,000 people.

While permission hasn't been granted for tractor trolleys or marches at the Ramlila Maidan, the police have taken extensive security measures and issued a traffic advisory in anticipation of heavy traffic congestion in the national capital.

What to Expect at the Mahapanchayat
Reports suggest that farmers will embark on a foot march from Uchana to Jind before converging for the Mahapanchayat at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi today. They aim to demonstrate their strength to the government, stating, "We will march from Uchana to Jind on foot and then proceed to Delhi by train."

Traffic Advisory
Traffic disruptions are anticipated in various parts of Delhi due to the farmers' gathering at Ramlila Maidan today. The Delhi Traffic Police has identified several roads likely to be affected, including Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Barakhamba Road, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Asaf Ali Road, and more.

To manage the traffic, diversions have been advised on routes such as Delhi Gate, Mir Dard Chowk, Ajmeri Gate Chowk, and others. These diversions will be enforced from 6 am on Thursday. The public is urged to plan their travel carefully, particularly those heading towards ISBT, the railway station, or the airport, and to allow for extra time.

Why Farmers Are Protesting
Since February 13, hundreds of farmers have been protesting at the Punjab-Haryana borders. They demand legislation guaranteeing minimum support prices (MSP) for their crops and the withdrawal of police cases against protesters from previous demonstrations. Setting up camps with their vehicles along the border, their aim is to pressure the government into meeting their demands.

In recent talks, a panel of Union ministers offered to procure five crops at MSP for five years through central agencies. However, the protesting farmers rejected this proposal and resumed their protests at the border sites.

The farmers' movement continues to gather momentum, with today's Mahapanchayat marking another significant event in their ongoing struggle.
