Farmers have rolled up their sleeves and expedited the sowing of crops across the State Telangana, despite the Covid-19 pandemic gripping the nation. With an active monsoon, farm operations have been taken up in 85 percent of the normal cultivating area of about 1.03 crore acres for the Vaanakalam 2020 season, even as paddy nurseries are being raised under assured irrigation sources. The officials attributed the huge growth in the sown area to an increased availability of water resources apart from the Rythu Bandhu incentive, free power supply and other incentives being provided by the State government.
