New Delhi: In order to promote electronic toll collection (ETC) which started in the past, the Central Government has issued a system of FASTag. The Government distributed free of cost in the month of February to increase the use of Fastag. Now, with the help of Radio-frequency identification (RFID), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), the technology of toll tax payment from Fastag is going to be world-class. This will not jam and the driver will be able to pay the toll in 50 seconds. The helpline number has been upgraded to solve the complaints related to FASTag.

According to a senior official of the Ministry, Fastag sales have increased. Every day about 1.20 lakh Fastags are being sold. It is also being said that the Ministry has installed ETC technology in all 544 toll plazas. Its tremendous impact is being seen in toll collection. According to the data, online tax collection of Rs 70 crore (75%) took place every day in February. In the month of July last year, this figure was Rs 19 crore (29%) per day.

Helpline number upgraded: It is also being said that the helpline number 1033 has been upgraded by the ministry to solve the problems faced by FASTag. More than 15,000 complaints are being filed every month on the 1033 helpline number. Of these, 55% of the complaints are related to not reading FASTags in the sensors of the toll plazas. Keeping this in mind, online payment is not possible due to fast read. Due to delay in payment, long lines of trains are installed in the toll plazas. The passengers get upset due to this jam.
