Raipur: In a tragic incident, a newlywed couple and three other individuals lost their lives in Chhattisgarh's Janjgir-Champa district on Sunday after their car collided with a truck. The unfortunate event occurred as the couple was returning to Shivrinarayan town shortly after their wedding. The accident happened in the early hours near Pakariya Jhulan village, falling under the Mulmula police station.

The deceased groom, identified as Shubham Soni, hailed from Baloda village in Janjgir-Champa. He had married a woman from Shivrinarayan the night before. Alongside the newlyweds, three relatives who were accompanying them also lost their lives in the collision.

The police reported that the couple's car collided head-on with a truck approaching from the opposite direction. The groom, en route to his village of Baloda with his bride, suffered serious injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later. Among the deceased were also the groom's father, Omprakash Soni, who was driving the car at the time of the accident.

Authorities at the scene, informed about the accident, are actively trying to locate the driver of the truck responsible for the collision. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examinations, and the abandoned truck has been impounded by the police.
