Bhopal: A father, upset over a domestic dispute, tried to make a suicide with his two children from the Narmada bridge between Narmadapuram-Budni in Madhya Pradesh. The man jumped into the river from the bridge with his 2-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter around 8 pm on Friday. Divers have rescued the father, but both the innocent children have died in the accident. A case of death has been registered against the accused father.
According to the information received, Rajesh Ahirwar, a resident of Gudrai in Sohagpur, had assaulted his wife 3 days ago, after which, his wife suffered an injury in her leg. Rajesh had admitted his wife to a private hospital in Narmadapuram for treatment. At around 4 pm on Friday, the two husbands and wives had an argument in the hospital over something, after which Rajesh took the two children along with him and warned the wife to do her happiness and jumped from the Narmada bridge with both the children. Rajesh was spotted jumping off the bridge by a passerby and reported on dial 100.
As soon as the same tahrir was received, Budni police station TI Vikas Pulli rushed to the spot along with divers. After some time, Budni SDM, SDOP, Narmadapuram SDM Vandana Jat, SDOP Parag Saini, Tahsildar Shailendra Baronia, Kotwali TI Santosh Singh Chauhan, Dehat Police Station TI Sanjay Chouksey also rushed to the spot with divers, home guard team and rescue operation was launched. Divers rescued the father from about 1 km away. At the same time, the rescue operation was carried out throughout the night to search for the children, but they could not be saved. The bodies of 2-year-old son Sarthak and 4-year-old daughter Omvati were found near Intockwell of Trident Company on Saturday morning. The father has been booked for the murder of the children.
