New Delhi: Everyday there is a discussion about the slowdown in the country. But the business on the online platform seems to be unaffected by it. In the first six days (29 September to 4 October) led by big companies like Amazon and Flipkart, e-commerce companies have done a record business of three billion dollars (about 21 thousand crores). Walmart-owned Flipkart and Amazon held 90 per cent stake in it. This information has been given by the research firm Redsier Consultancy of Bangalore.
Earlier, as soon as the pre-booking opened on October 4, 1600 phones of the Galaxy Fold model, priced at Rs 1.65 lakh from Samsung, were sold out in just 30 minutes. The research firm says that given the start of the festive season, the total online sales figure in October could reach $ 6 billion (about Rs 42,000 crore). Anil Kumar, founder and CEO of Redseer, says that these sales figures show that the customer trend towards online shopping remains positive.
This festive season saw an increase of 30 percent as compared to a year ago. There was considerable participation of Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The mobile segment topped in terms of sales. Mobile accounted for 55 per cent of the total value of goods sold (GMV). Most customers postponed their plans to buy mobile phones for the festive season. This shows that festivals are emphasizing value shopping during the season.
