Fifth T20I: Harmanpreet leaves out Jemimah

Mumbai: India's acclaimed order batter Jemimah Rodrigues had made a rousing comeback to the T20I team after being left out earlier in the year, including being the leading run-scorer in a victorious Women’s Asia Cup campaign.

With only 28 runs scored in the first four games of the recent five-game home series against Australia, Jemimah struggled. Jemimah was not there for Tuesday's final game at the Brabourne Stadium; instead, Harleen Deol played at number three and quickly reached the score of 24 off of 16 balls before being run out.

We all agreed that Jemi deserved a break because of how significant she is. It's critical that we maintain her positive outlook moving ahead. In T20s, the batting order cannot be changed. In the post-game press conference, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur observed, "I know Jemi was batting at number three for a long time.

Having Harleen in the mix also gives India flexibility in terms of batting options for the T20I team, according to Harmanpreet.

"Harleen is a person who is constantly prepared, whether it's for fielding or merely for batting at any position. Despite being prepared from the beginning of the last game (the fourth T20I), she was not upset and had a positive attitude, according to the captain.

When I get the chance, I want to go there and execute, she said. However, I believe that a variable batting order is a positive thing because it gives you more experimentation choices. We were interested in seeing how Harleen would perform at third base for that reason. She was present and gaining momentum. I was very excited to see her come over with the bat," she said.
