Assam: FIR registered against BJP MLA Shiladitya, opposition demanding arrest

Guwahati: Several organizations have filed several complaints against the objectionable remarks of BJP MLA Shiladitya Dev in Assam. A complaint has been lodged against him for his statement in which he called the respected Islamic scholar Syed Abdul Malik an 'Intellectual Jihadi'. BJP leader and Assam Minorities Development Board Chairman Muminul Oval strongly condemned the statement and asked his party colleague to publicly apologize.

The Congress has called Dev a 'mad person' who should be sent to a 'Lunatic asylum' for continued controversial and communally sensitive statements. The party has also called him 'Rakhi Sawant of BJP'. Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant is known for her absurd statements. The Minority Department of Congress filed a complaint against Dev at Hantigaon police station in Guwahati and demanded immediate arrest of this MLA of Hojai constituency. 

Sadao Assam Goria-Yuva Student Council has filed a complaint with the Jalukbari police station in Guwahati. Assam Sonagrami Yuva Manch has also lodged a complaint with the Hatigaon police station demanding strict legal action against Dev. BJP leader Oval has said, "I strongly oppose and strongly condemn what Shiladitya said."
