Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur police have registered an FIR against former Congress MLA Imran Masood who joined Samajwadi Party. The FIR has been registered for violating the Covid rules and not following the Code of Conduct. Saharanpur police SP City Rajesh Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered.

SP Rajesh Kumar said, "A meeting of his supporters was convened by Imran Masood at his residence in Ambala Road today. It was crowded. Prior permission was also not taken by them to hold this meeting. While the Model Code of Conduct is in force across the State. At the same time, the corona guidelines were also not being followed. People were not wearing masks. Social distancing was also not being taken care of. In view of this, a total of 300 other unidentified supporters have been booked under the IPC and Epidemic FIR Act by SHO Qutubsher nominating 10 persons including Imran Masood at Thana Qutubsher.''

Saharanpur Police SSP IPS Akash Tomar informed about the case and said, "The incident took place on January 10 at 1.30 pm. Imran Masood and his supporters have been booked FIR under sections 188, 171 - H, 269, 270 and sections 3 and 4 of the Epidemic Act.'' Police station in-charge Qutubsher Piyush Dixit himself has lodged a complaint in the case. The matter is under investigation. Action will be taken as per rules after investigation.
