Kolkata: On the occasion of Diwali and Kalipooja, there were cases of fire in New Town area and East Bardhaman city in Kolkata. About 50 huts were burnt to ashes in this accident. Three persons were injured in a fire in a village in eastern Bardhaman. There were no casualties in the fire in Gaurang Nagar area of New Town. The officers of Kolkata informed this matter.

The two fire engine vehicles reached Gaurang Nagar on the occasion. The fire was reported at 6.30 pm, by then 30 huts were burnt. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained. On the occasion of Diwali, Chhath and other pujas, the Calcutta High Court had prohibited the use of firecrackers last week.
Officers in Purba Bardhaman town said that earlier in the day, more than 20 huts were burnt by the fire in Kailashpur village under Kankuria village. The explosion occurred in the kitchen of a house earlier, due to which fire started in other houses. Two fire engines arrived on occasion. Officers said three people were hurt while trying to save the fire. In this, one person was admitted to the hospital and two people were given primary treatment.
