Sri Lanka closes its fish market due to Coronavirus

Colombo: Sri Lanka's main fish market was closed on Thursday in view of the spread of corona epidemic and curfew imposed in several areas. The government has imposed curfew in some parts of Colombo and some areas outside the capital. New cases of coronavirus infection were registered this month in at least six villages in the western province.  Colombo also falls in the western province.

Health authorities have temporarily closed the country's major fish market after 49 traders confirmed the coronavirus positive. Hundreds of other traders have also been confirmed to have found coronavirus positive in the market located on the outskirts of Colombo. Till Thursday, 2,510 cases have been associated with a textile factory in the country and the authorities have identified it as the first community infection in the last two months.

Schools and main government offices are closed, people are banned from gathering and the operation of public vehicles has also been kept closed. In Sri Lanka, a total of 5,811 cases of infection have been registered since March, while 13 people have lost their lives.
