COLOMBO: Five Indian Navy sailing vessels are now visiting Sri Lanka to boost naval ties between the two countries. The indigenous sailing vessels Mhadei, Tarini, Bulbul, Kadalpura, and Hariyal will visit the South Indian island from March 10 to 19, with the goal of providing ocean sailing training and expertise to the Sri Lanka Navy, according to a statement from the Indian High Commission in Colombo.
"The warships were in Trincomalee from March 10 to March 13, 2022, and embarked fourteen Sri Lanka Navy officers, including two women officers, for ocean sailing training in Colombo. During the harbour phase, an Indian Navy officer provided specialised training to the embarking officers "Added the statement.
Commodore B.R. Singh, the senior officer of the Indian Navy's sailing squad, visited COMEAST, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne, in Trincomalee, and Deputy Chief of Staff, COMWEST, Rear Admiral A.U.C. De Silva in Colombo, according to the statement.
