Tokyo: The devastation of the growing disasters around the world is causing great problems for the people. The continuous rains have continued in southern Japan for 3 days. The number of people who died due to floods increased to 44 on Monday, 6 July 2020, in which 14 people have drowned due to flooding of a nursing home on the banks of a river. Army personnel and other rescue teams saved the lives of people by entering mud and debris along the banks of the flooded Kuma River, where many houses and buildings have been badly submerged in the floodwater.

According to the Meteorological Department, the three prefectures in northern Kyushu issued warnings of extremely heavy rainfall. The southern region of the island is disturbed by heavy rain throughout the weekend. According to the information received, more than 5 lakh people have been advised to leave home from Kyushu, including the area along the river in Kumamoto city. 40 bodies have been recovered from Kumamoto city. Among the dead, 14 elders of a nursing home located next to the Kuma River have been found. It is also being said that many people have been evacuated from Kumamoto by helicopter and boats. More than 40 thousand personnel of the Defense Force, Coast Guard, and Fire Department are engaged in rescue work. Due to floods and land subsidence, around 65 people living in the Sanjuean care center and 30 people caring for them were trapped there. After this, they were left stranded there, the remaining 51 people were saved on Sunday.

According to the information received, Shigemisto, the operator of the local 'rafting' company, told the government broadcaster 'NHK' that a total of 18 people have died, while 16 people are feared dead.  14 other missing reports have been lodged till Sunday afternoon. According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, many people are still stranded in flood-affected areas and are waiting for help.
