Mumbai: After Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar announced his resignation from the post of party chief on Tuesday (May 2), there has been a political uproar in the NCP . Several leaders including NCP leader Jitendra Awhad have also resigned from their posts following Pawar's decision. NCP workers are strongly opposing the resignation of Sharad Pawar.

Actually, on behalf of NCP workers, Sharad Pawar is also being demanded to reconsider his decision. Talking to the media, NCP leader Jitendra Awhad said, 'I have resigned from my post of National General Secretary and I have sent my resignation to NCP Chief Sharad Pawar.' After Pawar saheb's announcement (to resign from the post of party chief), all the office-bearers of Thane NCP have also resigned.

A supporter of Sharad Pawar has written a letter in blood asking him to continue on the post of president. Some workers have also sat on dharna. On the other hand, on Tuesday, NCP's Maharashtra unit chief Jayant Patil and party leader Jitendra Chavan wept after Pawar's announcement. Party MP Praful Patel with folded hands has requested Sharad Pawar to withdraw his decision.

Jeetendra Awhad gave a controversial statement on Ramnavmi and Hanuman Jayanti :-

Let us inform that, NCP leader Jitendra Awhad had said in Mumbai on Friday (April 21) that it seems that festivals like Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti are only to incite riots. Awhad said that the coming years would be the year of religious riots. He said that due to the riots, the atmosphere of the cities has become very poisonous. Let us tell you that due to the controversial statements of Jitendra Awhad, once the Maharashtra Human Rights Commission has also issued a notice against him. He also claimed that Aurangzeb was not anti-Hindu and did not destroy temples.
