NEW DELHI: India Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today, May 17, urged to the persons who received their appointment letters under the latest Rozgar Mela to spread the word on the scheme's benefits to the public.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave 71,000 new hires in government agencies and institutions across the nation their job letters.

Sitharaman said the Rozgar Mela is a step towards the fulfilment of the Prime Minister's resolve to assign the highest priority to employment generation after making the job offers to over 250 persons at an event in Chennai.

The new hires from various ministries and departments, such as the Department of Posts, Railways, Health and Family Welfare, Petroleum, and Defence, were given the appointment orders by the Union Minister.

During her brief conversation with a few of the new recruits, Sitharaman advised them to "scale up in their life" and "take the benefits of the (Rozgar Mela scheme) to everyone outside of your family."

She claimed that through empowering young people and facilitating their active engagement in national development, the Rozgar Mela acts as a catalyst for more job prospects.

During the event, Nirmala Sitharaman also obliged for selfies with the beneficiaries.
The new recruits, selected from across verticals, would join various posts  including train manager, station master, and senior commercial-cum-ticket clerk among many others.

They would also get training through "Karmayogi Prarambh," an online orientation programme for all new hires in different government ministries.

What is Rozgar Mela?: "Rozgar Mela" refers to a job fair or employment fair. It is a platform or event where multiple employers and job seekers come together to facilitate the process of recruitment and job placement. The primary objective of a Rozgar Mela is to connect job seekers with potential employers, providing them with an opportunity to explore available job openings, submit resumes, and engage in interviews or discussions with recruiters. These events are typically organized by government agencies, educational institutions, or private organizations to address unemployment and support the workforce by creating a networking platform for job seekers and employers. Rozgar Mela often offers a range of job opportunities across various sectors and industries, providing a convenient avenue for both job seekers and employers to interact and find suitable matches for employment.
