Coronavirus is wreaking havoc all around the world and till now the death toll has exceeded 42000. If the solution arises due to this crisis, a new crisis may arise in front of the world. This is the crisis of food. The World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have given this warning in a joint statement.

WHO and WTO asked governments to ensure food supply:

According to the information received, lockdown is going on in many countries due to corona at this time. This has severely affected international trade and food supply chains. Apart from this, due to chaos, people have bought goods on a large scale by shopping. There is also a shortage of food items. A joint statement issued by FAO chief Kyu Dongyu, WHO Director General Tauros Adenum and WTO Director Roberto Azevedo said that due to the uncertainty of food availability, many countries may impose restrictions on exports, which will reduce the global market.

Lockdown in many countries of the world has a bad impact on global business: It is also being said that the statement said that there should be an effort to keep the business running smoothly as far as possible during the lockdown. While ensuring the safety of its citizens, various countries should also take care that the food supply chain is not affected. Due to long-term orders and travel restrictions, there is a shortage of workers, affecting agricultural production. This is making it difficult for food items to reach the market. In the joint statement, emphasis was also laid on ensuring employment of people engaged in work related to food production.
